Napa Valley, CA, Decided.
Every decision that matters, on one page.
✦ Stay: Auberge du Soleil ($$$$)
✦ Eat: Angèle — book DAYS in high season — reserve online ahead and request the riverside patio for the setting. A walkable downtown-Napa option for both lunch and a romantic dinner.
✦ Stay: The Estate Yountville ($$$-$$$$)
✦ Eat: Bottega Napa Valley — book DAYS-TO-WEEKS in high season — reserve on OpenTable/the official site ahead; the patio and prime weekend slots go first. A reliable group-friendly booking (handles larger parties better than the tiny fine-dining rooms).
✦ Stay: Bardessono Hotel & Spa ($$$$)
✦ Eat: The French Laundry — book WEEKS-TO-MONTHS — and even then it's hard. Reservations release on Tock on the 1st of each month for the following month (confirm the exact release time on Tock) and sell out within minutes. Be online, logged in, and ready the moment they open; have backup dates. ⚠ HONESTY: this is genuinely one of the hardest reservations in America — treat landing it as the plan, not a given.
✦ Stay: Carneros Resort and Spa ($$$-$$$$)
✦ Eat: Bouchon Bistro — book DAYS (weeks in high season for prime dinner) — reserve online ahead, especially harvest weekends. More attainable than its famous neighbor. The adjacent Bouchon Bakery is walk-in for pastries/coffee.
When to go: April, May, September, October.
