Worth it? Lower Yosemite Fall: YES for everyone (short, easy, mostly accessible, at the base of the tallest falls in North America). Upper Yosemite Fall Trail: YES for fit hikers wanting a classic valley-rim climb with commanding views — but it's strenuous and long. The play: do the Lower loop early or at dusk; start the Upper trail at dawn to beat heat and crowds; and COME IN SPRING/EARLY SUMMER if seeing water at full roar matters.

Who it’s NOT for: Late-summer visitors expecting a thundering fall — it can be dry/trickling by August–September (check flow). [object Object] Visitors wanting a wilderness-quiet Lower Fall — the easy loop is popular and busy.

Skip it if: You're visiting in a dry late summer and expect a big waterfall — you may find a dry cliff (still a fine short walk, but manage expectations). Skip the Upper trail if you're not up for a strenuous all-dayer.

Time needed: Lower Fall loop: ~30–60 min. Upper Yosemite Fall Trail: ~6–8 hours round-trip (all-day, strenuous). (research: NPS)

Best time: Spring–early summer (May) for peak flow; early morning for the Upper trail (heat + parking). Lower loop good at dusk. Confirm flow before you count on a roaring fall.

Cost: $Booking: none — no reservation or fee beyond park entrance for either trail. For the Upper trail, "book" your own prep: early start, water, sun, and honest fitness.
